Peacock Accessories - Make Your Own Peacock Feather Hair Clips and Peacock Feather Earrings
By MyInfo411
As of last night, I've now made 3 peacock feather hair clips and 3 pairs of peacock feather earrings. I've also used other peacock feathers (other than the eye feathers) and ostrich feathers to make some really cute fashion accessories.
This feather hair clip is made from several different bird feathers, including peacock, ostrich, and pheasant. This hair clip really shimmers, showing many different colors in different lighting. In the photo, it's hard to see all the different shimmery colors, especially from the ostrich and peacock feathers. They are simply beautiful!
This is a very small hair clip I made late last night. I'm not sure yet if I want to sell this one. I have a lot of shirts and outfits this one would coordinate well with. I finished this clip off with another earring at the bottom.
I make my crafts primarily because I love creating, secondarily because I make them for me and my daughter to wear, and lastly to sell my crafts. The more I sell, the more excuse it gives me to create more. It's a win-win!
Facebook has been an excellent site for selling what I make to friends. Also, if you're wanting to sell your own crafts, I would look into boutiques and shops, especially if you live in a vacation spot; tourists are always looking for unique gems and most already have "souvenir money" set aside to spend.
This is a small hair clip I made for myself. If you're just starting out making your own hair clips, this one is really easy to make. Just cut a small piece of felt in a tear-drop shape. Glue on 3-5 ostrich feathers, followed by a peacock "eye" feather. I always hand sew my clips onto either a small piece of felt or a small piece of ribbon (with the edges seared to insure no fraying) and then glue it directly to the back. If you want to skip the sewing, just glue your clip on the back.
This hair accessory clip is made like the previous, except before I added my peacock eye feather, I glued a couple of peacock feather strands in the center. I like the added whimsy and added iridescent shimmer.
Of course these fashion hair accessories may be worn in almost any way, but my favorite is to style my hair in a low "poofy" bun off to one side, with a clip next to my somewhat messy bun.
This peacock hair accessory clip is full of nature's amazingly beautiful colors! I love the olive green hues in the ostrich feathers! This clip is about two inches larger than the previous one.
This is by far the easiest peacock feather earrings to make. It's pretty self-explanatory. I simply left the peacock feather "eyes" just the way God made them. Then, attached them to some crimp beads and wire, added a coordinating bead, and attached them to the earring hooks. (In the next two pairs of earrings, you'll see that I completely took the eye feathers apart.)
Both pairs of these earrings are made from peacock feathers. Each strand has been cut off from the feathers and clamped together with bead crimpers. It took much longer to make them, as each pair of earrings has from 16 to 24 grouped together.
These are my latest creations! Thank you for taking the time to view them. Have fun making your own peacock feather accessories!
